What we do

At Wanganui Barbell we train predominantly with powerlifting training.  Powerlifting is the strength sport that tests the whole body on three different lifts: squat, bench press and deadlift.  Powerlifting is an inclusive sport that allows people of all body types and weights to compete, all with the same purpose, to develop a strong body and mind.  Wanganui Barbells take on training is to not only include powerlifting training to train the strength component, but also to include a variety of other training methods to create a strong and visually aesthetic physique.  These other methods dip into the bodybuilding, calisthenics, strong man and competitive weight lifting’s “bag of tricks”. 

We program to suit the class, so that means that we won’t let you bite off more than you can chew. We cater for the beginner through to the more advanced and can run the two streams simultaneously in our supportive small group training environment. If you have ever wanted to get stronger, faster and change your body for the better we will show you how. Numbers are capped to a maximum of 8 to ensure intensive, detailed coaching of technique and a supportive community.

Our sessions run one hour 15 minutes long to ensure sufficient warm up, one-on-one coaching time, workout, and cool down time.
